Blue Rock search has partnered with well-known and rapidly growing casual dining franchise chain to identify their next Vice President of Development .
The VP of Development will report directly to the CEO.
The primary goal of the VPD is to lead all aspects of the Development function which includes Franchise Development, A&E, Market Planning, Real Estate and Construction to continue to build and drive the new restaurant pipeline.
The ideal candidate for this position has previous corporate franchised system management experience, aspires to be a “builder” more than “maintainer” and has a proven track record in not only delivering the brand’s goals for new restaurant development but also in effectuating positive change in an established franchise system with area developers and franchisees.
Responsibilities:
- Continue to uphold restaurant design standards and drive development costs down.
- Further develop the company’s expansion strategy and market planning across the country
- Responsible for overseeing the site selection and LOI & Lease Negotiation Process
- Attend all the major real estate and construction conferences to drive the company’s development
- Responsible for the agenda and presenting at the weekly Development Committee meetings to the Executive Team
- Work with Franchisees to guide them in the Market Planning, site selection, restaurant design, and construction process
- Meet or exceed the company's annual new restaurant opening goals
- Maintain and reduce restaurant development costs through value engineering and a competitive bid process
- Promote a team environment by fostering respect, providing coaching and feedback to team members, recognizing achievements, resolving employee concerns, and communicating effectively
- Evaluate and design improvements, where necessary, for franchise system operations and restaurant development
- Continuous monitoring and development of ideas that will enable improved guest experience, sales and profitability
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or a related field, such as Commercial Real Estate
- Experience in a Multi-Unit Restaurant environment, with at least 5 to 8 years of experience focused on driving real estate and construction
- Successful track record for real estate site selection, lease administration and construction
- Possess extensive real estate and construction contacts with the ability to leverage those relationships
- Possesses knowledge of project development to include contracts, design, construction management, project systems, delivery, and specifications to ensure compliance and execution to meet project requirements
- Must be willing to travel 25%+ of the time
- Excellent interpersonal, communication skills, and self-disciplined
- Understands the importance of tracking and measuring results and drives accountability
- Strong analytical skills and ability to provide deep insights that result in improved results
- Proficiency in basic software applications with experience creating basic spreadsheets, project management, PowerPoint presentations, utilizing mapping and proprietary software
