Purpose
The Offshore Trust Specialist is responsible for business development and identifying and meeting the cross-border wealth structuring needs of high and ultra high-net-worth individuals in the designated market.
The incumbent will play a critical role in supporting and driving volume and revenue growth objectives for the business by actively pursuing potential opportunities related to wealth structuring in the region, working to deliver highly complex wealth structuring solutions.
The incumbent will work cross functionally across a variety of stakeholders and will leverage deep experience to source clients with IWM partners, support local wealth teams and structuring specialists including the Total Wealth Planner in implementing the Total Wealth offering for clients with specific targets.
Accountabilities
- Identify and source suitable clients in the existing book of IWM partners, Scotiabank network and new clients to determine opportunities to provide services to be introduced to the offshore trust centres for trusts, foundations, insurance, funds, company and agency accounts and undertaking direct involvement in determining the suitability of the proposed offering.
- Identify and source suitable clients in the existing book of The Bank of Nova Scotia Trust Company (Bahamas) Limited to determine opportunities to provide services to be introduced to the IWM partners where possible, considering all regulatory and/or privacy requirements.
- Research, prepare and present proposals/pitches to sources and through them to existing clients/prospects along with IWS Partners.
- Support various levels of the structuring determined, including preparation of legal and account opening documentation, supporting various asset holding structures such as Private Trusts, Foundations and Private Investment Companies, etc.
- Serve as key communicator between Scotia Trust and internal and external stakeholders, representing and championing Wealth Structuring needs and requirements on initiatives.
- Drive collaboration to provide a seamless and cohesive client experience, work effectively with client's other external professional advisors (i.e., CPAs, lawyers, and other professionals) or introduce clients to external professional advisors, as required to provide optimal service on more complex planning matters.
- To oversee and support marketing strategies geared toward clients to expand existing Client relationships and develop new clients through a cross sections of IWM
- Establish strong relationships with internal and relevant external centers of influence (COIs) to encourage client introductions, enhance technical knowledge, and learn of cross border planning opportunities that can maximize value added to target populations and serve as the single point of contact for all introductions into IWS for the (state geography) region.
- Manage the partner client introduction report on behalf of Scotia Trust to follow on prospects and tracking deals to introduce clients and prepare as needed business analytics to support the growth of the business.
- Hold and maintain all necessary licenses and certifications for this position and continue to prioritize personal development opportunities that can further enhance the position.
Remain current on all wealth structuring related topics.
Education / Experience / Other Information
- Experience in Trust and Estate industry with cross border planning;
- Demonstrated track record in relationship/client interaction including minimum 5 years of direct client interaction experience;
- Robust background in Banking & Wealth Management with an ability to prospect;
- Knowledge of the local market assigned and its UHNW prospects / clients is a plus.
- Excellent networking, sales and presentation skills.
- Strong verbal communication skills.
- Strong written / visual communication skills with an ability to synthesize, summarize, simplify and communicate complex ideas.
- High level of discretion and trustworthiness, being equipped with a high level of integrity regarding clients' assets and personal information.
- Strong Execution & Results Focus – Self-driven and proactive to work independently.
- Excellent inter-personal skills and ability to quickly build relationships and trust.
- Conscientious individual with a high level of attention to detail.
- Advanced degree, MBA, LLB or LLM is preferred.
- Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP) strongly preferred.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is Required.
