We're Hiring: Mainframe Administrator (IBM z/OS)
Shokworks is looking for an
experienced Mainframe Administrator
to manage, monitor, and optimize
enterprise-level IBM z/OS systems
and related infrastructure.
This role is critical to ensuring
high availability, security compliance, and performance tuning
across mission-critical mainframe environments.
Key Responsibilities
System Management
– Install, configure, and maintain IBM z/OS, JES2, and ISPF environments
Performance Monitoring
– Utilize SMF/RMF, OMEGAMON, and other tools to analyze system utilization and detect bottlenecks
Security Administration
– Implement and manage RACF policies; ensure compliance with data protection regulations (HIPAA, FISMA)
Job Scheduling
– Manage batch jobs via CA-7, Control-M, or TWS (Broadcom, BMC, Software AG, IBM Software...)
Disaster Recovery
– Maintain DR procedures including data replication, backup, and restore
Capacity Planning
– Conduct load forecasting and recommend upgrades or optimizations
Troubleshooting & Support
– Provide Level 2/3 support for incidents and service disruptions
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)
5+ years of hands-on experience with IBM z/OS mainframe systems
Strong knowledge of SDSF, JCL, VTAM, and TCP/IP for mainframe networking
Proficiency in automation scripting (REXX, CLIST, or equivalent)
Familiarity with change management platforms (Remedy, ServiceNow)
Excellent diagnostic and documentation skills
Preferred Skills
Experience with DB2, CICS, IMS, and MQSeries
Knowledge of hybrid infrastructure integrations (z/OS Connect, API enablement)
IBM Certified System Administrator – z/OS (or equivalent)
English level: B2+
