About The Role
Cuso International will be implementing the Peruvian Response for Opportunities of Venezuelan Migrants and Refugees in Employment and Sustainable Income Generating Activities (PROMESA) project in Peru, which main objective is to improve the socioeconomic integration of Venezuelan Migrants and Refugees and vulnerable host community members, especially women, LGBTQI+ groups and indigenous and afro-descendant population in Arequipa, Ica, Lima/Callao and Piura.

The project is financially supported by Global Affairs Canada (GAC) and will be implemented from 2025 to 2030.

The candidate selected will play an important role working in coordination with the Peru Country Representative (CR) and PROMESA Program Manager (PM) to improve the Sustainable and Inclusive Route for private sector partners and adapt it to be implemented by the public sector.

This will include identifying areas for improvement and lessons learnt during the implementation of the SCOPE project in Peru from

Key Responsibilities And Deliverables

  • As Gender Inclusion Project Officer, provide insights so that PROMESA is properly addressing the barriers to Gender Equality and inclusion for vulnerable groups in Peru to ensure the project meets its goals and objectives;
  • Advise the PROMESA team on ways to increase the participation of vulnerable groups to access sustainable gender-sensitive formal jobs;
  • Provide support to PROMESA PM identifying areas of improvement and carrying out those improvements so the Inclusive and Sustainable Route increases the capacity of private sector partners to address barriers that limit marginalized individuals from participating in income-generating activities;
  • In coordination with the PM adapt The Inclusive and Sustainable Route to be implemented by the public sector so the programs and services offered by them become more inclusive;
  • Provide gender equality and inclusion training to new project staff and stakeholders and support the implementation of The Inclusive and Sustainable Route;
  • Support the PROMESA Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning process in coordination with the PM and the MEAL Officer.

  • Participate in Peru weekly team meetings, and other Cuso meetings, as appropriate.

  • Provide feedback to Cuso colleagues when systems and processes could be improved to be more efficient and user friendly.

  • Perform any other responsibilities that may be assigned by the CR, and PROMESA PM.

  • Commitment to continuous professional and personal development and learning.

  • Cover for and support other colleagues, when necessary.

  • Record activities and support the Communications department when required.

Qualifications
Education

  • An undergraduate and graduate degree in a relevant field to the activities to be performed in this position and/or an appropriate combination of education and experience.

Experience

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience working in development projects, at the community level, with the public, private and social sectors.

  • Experience with gender mainstreaming and social inclusion, as well as a feminist approach in their work and ability to lead, mentor and train others in this aspect of performance.

  • A solid understanding and experience working in employment and training in in Peru, related to migrant population, women, LGBTQI+, Indigenous People and other vulnerable groups.

  • Excellent understanding of the project cycle, its tools and phases, and minimum four (4) years of experience in planning, financing, monitoring and implementing development projects.

  • Ability to work well and respectfully with a diverse team.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills, finding innovative solutions to more difficult and complex challenges, and ability to persevere and find solutions.

  • Fluency in Spanish and proficiency in English (desired)
  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to negotiate, persuade, advice, mobilize and develop positive relationships with others, both internally and externally.

  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills.

  • Proficient in computer equipment and Internet.

  • Availability to travel to Peru when required by the PM
  • Willingness to work irregular hours or overtime to successfully meet deliverables.
