Position: Director, Regional Engagement
The USC Alumni Association is seeking a thoughtful, strategic, and relationship-focused Director, Regional Engagement to lead regional alumni connection and community building.
Reporting to the Executive Director, Alumni Engagement, the role involves launching a modernized regional chapter model that deepens engagement and broadens access for alumni nationwide.
This initiative aligns with USC’s vision to enhance lifelong alumni involvement.
The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader and strategic thinker with strong relationship-building skills, capable of managing complex organizational systems and translating ideas into action.
A passion for alumni engagement and understanding regional dynamics are essential to drive programming and partnerships that support university priorities while celebrating Trojan traditions.
This role is hybrid, requiring on-site presence 3 days/week at the University Park Campus, with occasional late nights, weekends, and travel.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Direction (40%)
- Develop and implement a new regional chapter model to enhance alumni participation across diverse geographies and backgrounds.
- Design innovative community-focused alumni programs and events aligned with USC’s mission.
- Create strategies to increase alumni involvement, event attendance, volunteer leadership, and lifelong relationships.
- Volunteer & Program Management (30%)
- Recruit, manage, and train alumni volunteers for regional leadership roles.
- Establish policies, goals, metrics, and performance indicators for program effectiveness.
- Develop communication systems for volunteer engagement and program continuity.
- Ensure volunteer recognition and conduct program evaluations.
- Build relationships with key volunteer leaders and support the Board of Governors committees.
- Leadership & Program Management (30%)
- Manage a team of regional engagement staff, providing leadership and support.
- Participate in event planning, goal setting, and benchmarking.
- Manage budgets, policies, and procedures.
- Ensure proper tracking of volunteers in the database.
- Collaborate with fundraising teams to increase the donor pipeline.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience/education.
- At least five years of experience in alumni engagement or related fields.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Proven success in managing regional programs, events, and volunteers.
- Experience in strategic initiatives to increase engagement and support.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities professionally.
- Proficiency with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce), Microsoft Office, and web/media technologies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree.
- Knowledge of current higher education issues.
- Strong analytical, project management, and leadership skills.
- Experience with digital marketing and media.
- Fluent in additional languages, e.g., Spanish.

Compensation & Benefits
Salary range: $105,000 - $110,000.
